Akon released on GoAnimate
We've been asking friends to tell us about what they thought of the latest themes and channels released on the platform. Here is Franimate's (GoAnimate Friend) take on the Akon theme:
"I have a confession: I love Akon. Perhaps because rappers are notorious for living on the edge and pushing the boundaries, perhaps because I’m all for the mentality the “badder the better.” One thing is for sure: I love this man, and I love his new album. Akon has made fame partly for catchy refrains, but also partly for going just a little too far. And now, he’s gone all the way to animated. I haven’t left my computer in 5 hours. That’s right, I’m supposed to be selling advertising to corporations, but I’m sitting here animating my very favorite rap superstar.
I have another confession: I don’t know anything about animation. I read about this site through a friend on twitter and thought to myself “self, if you become an animation addict you will simultaneously admit to complete and utter dorkdom.” But then, I realized that if Akon is into it, it’s got to be bad in a good way. He’s been “konvicted” after all.
In all seriousness, the site is easy to use- you really just need to be able to drag and drop. Literally, it’s that simple. GoAnimate’s Flash-based tools are pretty serious considering they’re running within a web browser. With the Akon channel, one can take tableaus and scenes from GoAnimate stock animation (stages and such) and combine with songs from Freedom including: Right Now (Na Na Na) and Be with You. You can use Akon or members from his “crew” including: Ripley, Johnny Aldo, a body-guard looking-character called K.C. and the token apple-bottom dancer-type aptly named “Sierra.” Other sample animation starters include politicians, celebrities and classic cartoons. That means that you can mix Obama up into your Akon animations, and even Paris Hilton.
One final confession: My company has lost a lot of productivity now that I’ve discovered this site. I advise you, too, to get animating right na na na na na."
