Cinco De Mayo... CINCO DE MAYO!!!
When I woke up this morning I felt right away that something was different about today. I could not spot exactly what it was at first... Yes, I woke up at home. In the same old room. I was still in the same city. The GoAnimate office had not move overnight. Everything looked normal. Yet, I knew that something had happened... that something big was unfolding. Future generations would remember this day, books would be written about it. I had no doubt about it... but why?!
... and then it dawned on me...
CINCO DE MAYO! CINCO DE MAYO! CINCO DE MAYO!!!!!
The day had come! Finally the world would know who in the battle of the Goanimate gods would win the grand title of Animator Dominator! Would it be Ro? Would it be Ryco!?

I don't think this is a good idea. Goanimate is the place for all. Using one blog entry to promote 1/2 animator is not appropriate. Why don't you guys create a monthly poll for the community to rate/vote? This is a bit non-sense, I guess.....

I'm afraid I agree with anonymous number 1. (me being number 2) I like the idea about promoting GoAnimate, but I think there should be a better way. like get it advertised on miniclips etc. Anyway, I agree with the monthly poll bit, that would be super, because although Ryco is now animator dominator, I don't see how people can vote when half of them only watched his, just look at the views! they only watched his because he asked them to, I know it myself! It was a great compeition, but I think thwre needs to be some system of checking to see if it is fair how they are voting, or a poll, that's a neat idea!

That's right ryco's movie views are humble, which means his works are not that widely loved. Please create poll so that the community can speaks their opinion. It's funny when an animator is voted as dominator when most people don't watch his animations :-). There are many great animators on the site. Ryco is not the best. The views spoke it all.

Ryco is a fantastic animator who in extremely high in views and fans (I believe among the top 12 in both)!
We did our best to get people to watch BOTH animations. There were no rules that people had to watch both. The competition was originally to ask who is their favorite animator. Although, ideally everyone should have watched both. But, it was all about bragging rights (aka friends having fun).
I think it was fantastic of Go!Animate to support our user generated contest! That's what Go!Animate is about. The staff had nothing to do with the votes, that was Ludvig II, Skits and I (TNP).
I really think it was a good show of the community enjoying Go!Animate to it's fullest and showing how strong the community is. Ryco didn't gain anything more than he had before, Ro , Ludvig II, Panda Boy nor I lost anything.
I think we proved that some of us understand that this is a community. It's organic. It happened out of nowhere. It started who knows where, it picked up speed when Skits and Ludvig were talking about it in a forum (maybe?), Skits made a video promoting it, I helped by adding voice-over, we made up how it would be judged. Ryco won as fair and square.
Then, Ludvig made a video saying who won (using my voice-over with my permission), promoting who beat him (and me)! I think the whole thing was a great show of animator-ship and community. I would have been very disappointed if the blog didn't mention it. Because it was a COMMUNITY THING. It was a good chunk of Go!Animate's users; if not animating then voting with us :)
Sure, it wasn't perfect, but not bad; if I do say so myself.
It was not an official contest. It was a FUN contest. Toothless had fun and gained at least one fan (me) by participating in the forum. He didn't even make an animation for the contest! The contest was so fun that the staff got on board- which is there job, to enhance the community.
Ro, Ryco, Ludvig II, Panda Boy, and I joined to have fun. Please, join in next time, laugh with us, make it better and more fun! Don't shout people down, lift them up!
I'm pretty sure we (those that participated positively) feel closer as a group now.
Even if you didn't like the animations, Ro and Ryco are two FANTASTIC people, who help when they are asked, who watch SOOO many animations that are outside of their personal interests and still encourage the animators to keep animating.
They are not only great animators, but great mentors with character.
Yes, it's true, out of my 400 fans I did ask some to watch my animation, but I did not ask them to vote for me. I asked them to watch both and vote in the forum.

Sorry, when i commented before that's not what i meant, all I said was that if we have more contests like this we need to make a REALLY fair system. Nothing wrong with advertising, as ryco pointed out!
that was a great contest, super views and lots more fans added after that i believe, great job Ryco AND Ro, that was tonnes of animated fun!

No matter what, sports, politics, whatever, when there is a winner, or someone is the "best" at something there is always going to be people that have reasons why they shouldn't have won or why they aren't the best. It's just human nature and a matter of opinion.
I can't add any more than all the great points made in TNP / Coady 's heartfelt soliloquy :)
From day one, this was more about having some fun and bringing the community closer together. Everyone had opportunity to join in, watch some great animations, put their two cents in on the polls and have fun. As Ryco said there will alway be those that choose the see the downside. Such is their choice. Thankfully most people choose to see the fun side. That's the real win.
i really hope we get to do this again next year. me tnp and ludvig started our own compitition. hope it keeps going

I think this was a great idea! These user based competitions are good for the community. Also it seemed to really get the forum hopping! A good job to all those involved and congrats again Ryco!
I think everyone could create their contest and it's ok if someone you don't think deserve win. If you want someone more deserve to win, you should have voted for the others or create your own poll.
However I think Ryco is not the Dominator on the website. He is not as delicate at flash as Jexx, not as brilliant as I pie when it comes to humour, not as clever as Random Girl when it comes to voice over, not as good as Mojochi when it comes to story line...Actually he doesn't have a strength, not to mention that he has some dirty clips that might harm your eyes. If you promote such an animator, you're promoting unsafe materials.
This is why more general contests should be created so that the real animators will be promoted.

I don't use flash, my humor is not for everyone, and I have never used voice overs because it doesn't sound right. Apparently you didn't understand the whole idea behind the contest. The title isn't even a legitimate goanimate title. It is a made up title for fun. But thanks for your opinion. Next time leave your name so we can all see what kind of animator you are.
And I know I am not the best. The title doesn't state that and I don't claim to be the best. There are many animators on the site that are much better at animating than I.
